The yacht, part of a fleet of identical explorer yachts, will sail along a pre-set adventurous route year round, allowing her owners to hop on and off where and when it suits them best. The route will take her to destinations well off the beaten track, requiring a minimum stay of around one month. Destinations will include Spitsbergen, Antarctica, Greenland, Kamchatka, Canada and Alaska.
The yacht is being offered as a partial ownership program.
Fractions are available at € 175,000.-, or multiples thereof, with a maximum of 16. One fraction allows you to enjoy your expedition yacht, or another twin-yacht within the fleet, one month a year, with two persons in one double cabin. Annual costs per fraction are budgeted at € 28,000.-, including victuals, bunkers and regular running costs. Four fractions are sufficient for the exclusive use of the ship for one month per year.
By combining private use, charter and registering the vessel as Commercial Cruising Vessel under the Dutch Flag , cost of construction as well as operational costs have been substantially reduced. It might even allow for an annual distribution per fraction of a share in the profits.
Legally owners will purchase shares in the capital of the company that owns the vessel. That company will be running the ship commercially. On its behalf, a dedicated management company will take care of the commercial aspects as well as all ownership’s hassle: crew, maintenance, surveys, deliveries and finances.
Jointly the owners put up € 2.8 million in equity. This corresponds with € 175,000.- per 1/16th fraction. Ideally, 4 owners with 4 fractions each, would jointly own the explorer yacht. Total development costs amount to € 6.8 million. ¼th thereof equals € 1.7 million.
That explains the reference to the asking price of € 6.800.000,-- .
The development costs, minus equity, will be financed through a bank loan. Each owner will have to guarantee his or her pro rata parte of all payments due under the bank facility. Therefore the owners will have to be acceptable to the bank.
