This typically English Coast Offshore Boat is widely used by our overseas neighbours at the North Sea, English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. Used as a "survey vessel" for all research and monitoring activities, such as "respond fast boat" for transporting employees to oil platforms and wind projects as fishing, mostly for "pot hauling" (lobster catch). There are also a number of boats being used as a "Fast Ferry". There is a boat, as big as JACOBA, specially built for Ferry operations on the southern coast of Cornwall, ideal for transporting up to 50 people.
Fishermen sailing this type of boats up to approximately 60 nautical miles (over 100 km) from the coast, such as the Channel Islands (including Jersey). Typical of these boats is the relatively small wheelhouse and the large aft deck, where many activities take place. "Jacoba" is on the rear deck used mainly for "wining and dining" and to relax while standing or sitting to enjoy the beautiful view!
In mid 2009 "Jacoba" was ready and could be fully tested. The extremely robust construction combined with twin engines (nearly 800 Hp) propulsion, Jacoba make a reliable, safe and fast boat also! So can be achieved speeds of almost 30 knots (over 50 km per hour). The cruising speed is 23 knots from "Jacoba" (approx. 40 km per hour).
