Built and equipped for short handed and long distance cruising. Kathema is a very well maintained Caribbean 40 with many upgrades and renewals in the recent past (see details in further description). The seller had plans to sail Kathema for many more years but due to a health issue he decided to sell his beloved yacht. She has a warm, cosy, spacious and thoughtful designed interior with lots of stowagespace. A well balanced rigging and full batten main with Lazy Jacks ensures excellent sailing performance. A viewing in Germany is highly recommended.

More info on hull   Kathema was put on the hard in the autumn of 2009 at the Mittelmann yard in Kappeln to renew the deck. During the refit, the owner has decided to tackle the renovation more thoroughly than was initially intended. All fittings, including rubbing strake have been removed. After that, the original teak deck and unhealthy deck parts underneath were removed. To ensure that no water can penetrate, a 25 cm wide reinforcement has been applied from the deck construction downwards. This is milled to a depth of 3 mm and then filled with 2 layers of laminate. Before the Flexiteek deck was installed, the deck and cabin superstructure were reinforced and finished with epoxy.

Extra info   In 2009/2010 the gearbox and heat exchangers were checked by Volvo Penta and all wear parts were replaced. 2009/2010 side power engine overhauled. 2013 Installation of oil pressure display for the engine. The turbo was replaced in 2013/2014. 2014/2015 alternator checked and repaired, starter renewed.
