I had been looking for a boat for a couple of years across Europe and the US. I have also previously owned a boat in Australia. Consequently I have had the experience with many different brokers. I found DeValk Katwoude the most professional and proactive of all brokers I have dealt with.
My boat search finally came to an end last month when I purchased a 43 Wauquiez through DeValk in Katwoude Nertherlands. As the buyer I did not choose DeValk but now having used their services I would certainly recommend them to buyers and sellers alike.
I did not pursue the first boat inspected with DeValk initially however DeValk Katwoude obviously took my requirements, trawled through their records of previous sales and found two more similar boats that were not on the market until DeValk contacted them. In the end I did buy the first boat and was very happy with the personalised service, the attention to detail and an apparent desire to complete the job fully and not just make a quick sale. Responses to my enquiries and emails were generally pretty quick and thorough. Dear I say it for once I did not feel like I was being sold a line just to make a sale by a broker. I also found the fact that the boat was located at the brokerage a big plus. Lastly I really appreciated fact that the broker allowed me to inspect the boat myself at my own speed with out the broker or owner hanging over my shoulder and talking in my ear throughout the inspections. All This is hard to find.
Thanks to Reinier, Sander, Emma and Johan. They were all very helpful, so much so that I have been confident leaving our newly purchased boat under their watchful eye while we return to work in the Middle East between sailing holidays.
