Two superyachts sold

Two of the latest sales at De Valk International confirm the diversity of superyachts sold by this brokerage firm. The 29-metre pilothouse cutter Starlite was designed inside and out by the late Jon Bannenberg, and with an Ocean 80 hull by Doug Peterson, is very much a performance cruiser. In contrast, the second yacht - the fabulously restored 1939 Feadship Iduna - is the epitome of classical elegance.

In addition to elegance and style, both yachts shared in common the fact that they were in good condition. Launched by Southern Ocean Shipyards in 1988, Starlite has enjoyed three major refits and/or overhauls in the past decade. Iduna was rebuilt by the same multinational team recently responsible for the award-winning restoration of the 1920 gaff cutter Lulworth.
 
De Valk International broker Derk Jan Rolff was therefore able to give prospective clients a tour of Starlite and Iduna confident that both yachts would sell. And so it transpired. Iduna has been purchased by Dutch owners, which is eminently appropriate as she was Holland’s second largest yacht when first launched and remains very much part of the country’s nautical heritage.
