Changing course at the Wisselkoers

De Valk Zeeland organised the special ‘Wisselkoers Weekend’ in mid-May, a chance for sailyacht owners to change course by cruising a motoryacht, and vice versa. All participants agreed that the event was a great success.

The weather on Saturday was excellent. After everyone had been introduced at the De Valk Zeeland office, the participants boarded the motoryachts and cast off. On our way to the lovely town of Zierikzee we were joined by a number of porpoises and a seal, making for some great photos.

After arriving in Zierikzee the participants switched yachts to experience the difference between a fast-sailing and a displacement motoryacht. The captains really enjoyed cruising on each other’s yachts and having an entirely new experience. After returning to Sint Annaland, we concluded the day with drinks and bites on the terrace and in the office of De Valk Zeeland.

While the weather gods were less favourable on Sunday, there was sufficient wind to hoist the sails. Although the rain that came later didn’t spoil the fun, it did shorten our trip. Nonetheless, with a group of relaxing seals to complete the setting, visiting the Vondelingsplaat at low tide was well worth the effort.

All our time on the water had made us hungry, so after returning to the office in Sint Annaland we enjoyed a splendid lunch provided by Catering Van ’t Padje, after which everyone returned home with a full stomach and a wealth of new experiences.

We would like to thank all participants and crews for their attendance and onboard hospitality.
