steel motor yacht DEFEVER 151', ''SOUTHERLY'', built in 1982, steel hull, built by Picchiotti, designed by DeFever, dim.: 46.02 x 9.02 x 2.62 m. ''SOUTHERLY'' is a magnificent ocean going facility that features an extremely spacious and luxurious 6 stateroom layout easily sleeping 12 guests without conversion including 2 full width owners/VIP suits.
Starting forward on the main deck is the first of the twfull width owner's suites. This suite features a king size bed, adjoining bath, full entertainement system and a beautiful custom teak interior. Moving just aft is an entry to the large commercial galley with easy access to the pilothouse and for the crew, to get to their independent quarters below and forward. Down a private entry one reaches the second owners suite also full width, and again featuring a king size island bed, ''his'' and ''hers'' baths (tub & shower respectively) and numerous large closets.
Moving aft of the galley (via either the pantry for servicor the owner's walkway), one enters the private dining salon which is tastefully decorated in rich earthtones and features solid woods and brass. ''SOUTHERLY'' is known for her gourmet food and presentation. Truly the dining salon is a pleasure to visit.
Aft of the dining salon is one of ''Souterly's'' finest attributes - her magnificent main salon and adjacent enormous open aft deck. Naval architect, Arthur DeFever, spared no ink in providing ''SOUTHERLY'' with space - largely due to her 29'6'' beam. These areas are beautifully decorated, fully air conditioned, lighted directly and indirectly, and feature full entertainment system (new in 1989/90). The aft deck is ideal for dining alfresco with its enormous round table with seating for twelve, heavy airconditioning and custom teak couches and chairs. One will visit many yachts to find a main salon or open aft deck that will compare with the spaciousness found on ''SOUTHERLY''.
From the aft deck one can easily walk up the upper aft deck unge and flying bridge - both of which are ideal for sunbathing and pure fresh air relaxation. One can hardly hear the main engine purr from the flying bridge which was added in 1989 and features a custom, easy access stairway, oversized built-in bench seating, direct and indirect lighting, a nearby commercial size icemaker, liquor locker and crew service area.
Designed for the traditional yachtsman, ''SOUTHERLY'' was laiout for separate crew areas and walk aways which conveniently keep the crew away from the owners and guests. By doing this the yacht developes a very uncongested, easy flow of activities and a serene, relaxing atmosphere.
The pilot house is particulay spacious with excellent visibility and the captain's cabin is properly positioned adjacent (aft) to the helm. The captain's cabin is quite large with full bath. On the starboard side also adjoining the pilot house is a full radio room completely equipped with state-of-the-art communications and navigation system including a brand new satelite communications system (telephone and telefax) and global positioning system (all new in 1990).
''Southerly's'' four guest staterooms are below and aft, but nshortage of space appears here either with seven foot headroom throughout. Two of the four staterooms feature queensize ''island'' beds and two have full size twin lower beds. All have private adjoining baths with tubs. The guest suites on ''SOUTHERLY'' are larger than many owner's suites on other yachts and nobody feels second class in these terrific guest rooms.
