The Freedom 40 is an exeptional cruisingyacht. With her Cat-rig very easy to handle and ideal for long distance cruising with a small crew, even single handed. "Chasseur" was purpose built for the former owner of Tilloston-Pearson, fitting her out to a higher spec. than standard. "Chasseur" does not look her age, is very well maintained, has a brand new set of sails and with her dark hull, teakdecks and white topsides a beautifull yacht overall.

GRP sailingyacht Freedom 40 Cat-Ketch Centreboard, "Chasseur", built in 1978 by Tilloston-Pearson USA, dim.: 12.19 (lwl 10.66) x 3.68 x 1.00 / 2.74 mtr, design by Gary Hoyt, headway: 15 mtrs, grp hull, deck and superstructure, teakdecks, full bilged keel, electric fully retractable centreboard, displacement: 12 tonnes, internal lead ballast: 2,8 tonnes, centreboard 1 tonnes (cast iron), fueltank: 450 ltrs (grp), freshwatertank: 450 ltrs (grp), wheel steering, emergency tiller.
Classic teak interion, solid Birma teak, 2 cabins and saloon, 4(+3) berths, dinette, headroom; 1.94 mtr, 1 x u.w.toilet and shower prepared, galley; electric + manual waterpressure system, Frigomatic 12v fridge, second insulated box for freezer/fridge prepared, Plastimo two burner gasstove and oven. Ample stowagespace throughout. Recently all the ceilings and upholstery was replaced.
Yanmar 4JH2E 48 hp (35kW) diesel, installed in 1994, approx. 1000 runninghours, indirect coolingsystem, s.s. propellor shaft, three bladed fixed propeller, spare three bladed feathering propeller, cruisingspeed approx. 7 knots, consumption approx. 4,5 ltr/hr, 12/220v electrical system, 5 x 135amp batteries (2002), Newmar 40amp batterycharger, shorepower.
Sestrel pedestal compass, KM electronic compass, Autohelm ST50 Tridata log/echosounder, Autohelm ST50 windset, Sailor RT2048BV VHF, Neco autopilot, Koden MD-3400 radar, Philips Mk8 GPS.
Sprayhood, covers for pedestal, Lofrans electric windlass with capstan, Bruce anchor with 60mtr. chain, Offshore anchor with line, boardingladder, fenders, warps, 2 x lifebuoy, cover for skylight.
Cat-ketch rigged, unstayed aluminium masts, some standing rigging, 2 Van Vliet red/brown mainsails (2003) + spare older set / trysail / stormmain / mizzen staysail, sailcovers, slabreefing for mainsails, 2 x Barient selftailing halyardwinches, 2 x Barient 22C sheetwinches. "Simplicity is a virtue", unstayed masts have numerous advantages over conventional rigs; simple and easy operation operation, uncluttered decks, lower centre of gravity, easy and much later reefing, better sailprofile, etc.
