GRP sailingyacht Van de Stadt 49 Scorpion ''Cappoquin'', built in 1975, dim.: 14,98 (lwl 11.70) x 3.95 x 1.85 m, built to Lloyds Registry specifications under the close supervision of Ricus (E.G) Van de Stadt, hull moulded in GRP/Airex foam for strength and insulation, s-bilged hull, balanced spade rudder for ease of handling, displacement: approx. 19 tons, ballast: 6 tons (lead, encapsulated), fueltanks: 455 ltrs (grp), freshwatertank: 682 ltrs (grp) both fuel and watertank are very good accesable for maintance reasons, small black water tank, Whitlock mechanical wheelsteering, emergency tiller. Hull and deck repainted in 2003 (Jotun) , superstructure partly rebuilt with marineply and epoxy. Also a new caprail was mounted and the whole underwatership received a new epoxy coating in 2001.
Classic hony coloured teak interior, 2 cabins and saloon, headroom; 1.98 mtr, aft ownerscabin with double berth, settee and own shower and head, saloon with pilotberths, forward cabin with 2 single berths and own shower/head, total sleeps 4(+4), forward ample storage for sails/inventory, Dickinson cabin heater (2003, yet to be installed), all new teak galley with electric waterpressure system, Plastimo two burner gasstove with oven (2000). Toilets renewed 2003.
Yanmar 4JHE 50 hp (36Kw) diesel, new installed in 1997, indirect coolingsystem, approx. 2500 runninghours, cruisingspeed approx. 6 kn, consumption approx. 4 ltr/hr, 3 x electric/2 x manual bilgepumps, 12/220v electrical system, 2 x 12v 105 Ah Trojan service batteries (2005), 2x 12v 105 Ah Trojan engine batteries (2005), shorepower, Ampair wind generator (2000 is defect), Kiss wind generator (2003), 1000 watt 12vdc-220vac invertor (2002), most through-hull fittings renewed, 150amp heavy duty alternator on main engine. Echotec 20 Gallon watermaker (not operational) , 4000 Gallon emergency pump.
Sestrel pedestal compass, Sestrel handbearing compass, Brookes & Gatehouse fluxgate compass (linked with radar), Brookes & Gatehouse Hornet windset (masttop unit defect) and log (defect), Brookes & Gatehouse Hecta echosounder, Sailor RT144 VHF (with Atis), Raytheon R40X 32nm radar, Raytheon 590 GPS (interfaced with radar), Simrad TP20 autopilot with remote control (2001), Furuno weatherfax 207 (2000), Lokata NavtexI navtex printer, Epirb (2000), Card anti-collision radar alarm (2003).
Sprayhood with s.s. framework (2006), sunawning, wintercover (from main mast tot the stern), Hydrovane windvane steering, 15 hp Yamaha (2003), liferaft (last inspected 2003), 2 x lifebuoy, lifelines on deck, 1 x fireblanket, Francis electric capstan, 80 Lbs Plough anchor, 40 Lbs Danforth anchor + assortement of chain and lines, s.s. searailing, fenders, clock, barometer, radar-reflector, 450ft Jordan serial droque (2003).
Yawl-cutter-rigged, Sailspar aluminium masts with Norseman/Stalock s.s. standing-rigging (partially new and overdimensioned), mulitplait running-rigging, Harken headsailfurler ('95), 10 Dolphin Sails: main / mizzen / furling genoa / jib I / jib II / 3 x staysail / stormjib / storm trysail, slabreefing for main, sailcover for genoa (2003), mechanical boomvang, Lewmar deck fittings, 2 x 65C/2 x 65CST/2 x 42C sheetwinches, 6 halyardwinches, all by Lewmar and Gibb, spi-pole.
