Conceived as the ultimate Catalina, the 42 interprets the needs and desires expressed by many sailors considering a yacht in the over-forty-foot class. First among these requirements are speed under sail, and easy predictable handling characteristics. An important consideration for many cruising sailors is the ability to realise the boat's performance potential under sail with a short-handed crew.

Sailingyacht Catalina 42 "Aryko", built in 1990 by Catalina Yachts - USA, dim: 12,75 (lwl 10,97 m) x 4,22 m x 1,83 m, headway approx. 17,80 m, design by Catalina Yachts, GRP hull, deck and superstructure, Lewmar windows, round-bilged hull, wing keel, displacement approx. 8,154 tonnes, ballast approx. 3,775 tonnes, fueltank approx. 200 litres, fresh watertank approx. 450 litres, sump tank, mechanical wheel steering, emergency tiller.
Modern teak interior, saloon + three cabins, 6 (+1) berths, two heads with own washing bowl, shower and a manual under water toilet, hot air/water heating, boiler (20 litres) runs on 220 Volt and engine, electric water pressure system, galley with sink, 3-burner gas stove with oven, refrigerator.
Yanmar 4 cylinder 44 hp (32,34 kW) diesel engine, running hours approx. 1408, mechanical gearbox, indirect cooling system, cruising speed approx. 6,5 knots, maximum speed approx. 7,5 knots, consumption at cruising speed approx. 3 litres per hour, 3-bladed propeller, propeller shaft stainless steel, bowthruster, fire extinguishers, electric and manual bilge pumps, electric circuit: 12/110/220 Volt, shorepower, batteries 2 x 190 Ah. and 1 x for bowthruster, battery charger, invertor.

Sloop-rigged, removable cutter stay, aluminium two spreader mast, fittings stainless steel + alu., standing rig stainless steel, headsail furling, 2 sails: full battened main sail + furling genoa, sail covers, reefing system, boom vang, Lewmar winches.
