Built in steel to the highest Dutch standards by the world renowned Hakvoort yard to a design by Olivier van Meer, this classic sailyacht is in superb condition and the owner is only selling because he wishes to build a new yacht.
“Mandarine VI is a rare yacht in various ways,” says Robert Drontmann, the broker responsible for this yacht at De Valk International. “You don't see many wishbone schooners and this is the only time in recent years that Hakvoort has deployed all its luxury motoryacht skills into a sailing yacht. Moreover, her owners have ensured that Mandarine VI remains in immaculate condition by having her captain fully responsible for her ongoing maintenance. And the yacht has never been chartered - although she would be eminently suitable for chartering should her new owners wish to do so.”
Designed as a classic family yacht in every respect, Mandarine VI has the space for crew and yet can equally be sailed by the owners or with a captain. In a ketch format, the classic wishbone rig makes for very easy sail handling and offers a wide range of options when it comes to selecting from a suite of five sails. The splendid performance is further enabled by her hydraulic lifting centreboard, which helps the yacht gain extra speed in aft winds.
The varnished teak bulwarks and sizeable cap rails are visible examples of the sturdy nature of her construction, while the traditional skylights and deck lockers and low coach house emphasise the classic aesthetic. Also resplendent in teak (satin varnished), Mandarine VI’s stunning interior was personally supervised by the first and only owners. The main saloon is a tremendous place to relax and enjoy a drink while dinner is prepared in the adjacent galley. The dinette on the port side on the pilothouse makes for a fine ‘dining with views’ experience.
A boat of rare beauty and exceptional speed, Mandarine VI is expected to attract considerable interest from classic connoisseurs.
