Sold: 49-metre Thunder B

De Valk Yachts France has announced the sale of the impressive 49-metre custom motoryacht Thunder B to a Croatian owner. Offered in outstanding condition, Thunder B can cruise along at 12 to 18 knots on her twin MTUs or use her gas turbine to storm ahead at speeds in excess of 30 knots.

Custom built by the Australian yard Oceanfast in 1998, Thunder B has a streamlined white composite hull and superstructure that turns heads in every harbour she visits. The sleek exterior and understated yet sumptuous interior was completed to designs by the late Jon Bannenberg, with naval architecture by Phil Curran. She is fully compliant with MCA and DNV standards.

“Especially notable is her propulsion,” adds James Greenwood, the broker responsible for the sale. “Twin 2950 hp MTU 396 diesel engines, a 4600 hp TF40 gas turbine, and 70,500-litre fuel tanks allow for speeds of at least 30 knots, and a range of 1000 nautical miles. This will offer her new owners the freedom to easily hop from port to port. At the same time, her bowthrusters ensure excellent manoeuvrability even at low speeds and in narrow anchorages.”

Thunder B offers fine accommodation for up to ten guests in five suites, including two double and three twin cabins. As expected on a yacht of this calibre, all interior spaces provide for maximum onboard comfort. The owners’ stateroom takes up the full beam and is complimented with a whirlpool bathtub and steam room.
