Koopmans 56 Zwerver sold

De Valk’s Hindeloopen office has just closed the sale of the eye-catching sailing yacht Zwerver – for the third time. The Koopmans 56 is also the third 56-foot yacht to be sold by the brokerage this year. While her previous owner had crisscrossed the globe with her, Zwerver has been acquired by a German family who plan to sail closer to home.

The 16.80-metre Zwerver is the third yacht in this size category to be sold by De Valk Hindeloopen this year, after the Koopmans 56 Antarctica and Hoek Truly Classic 56 Lady Ann. Originally also built in Hindeloopen – at the renowned Aluboot yard – to designs by the world-famous Dutch designer Dick Koopmans Sr, Zwerver has been kept in an immaculate condition. She underwent a complete refit and overhaul in 2004, and has had periodic upgrades in recent years, including a refit during the second half of 2011 and a fresh coat of paint in early 2012.

Combining an aluminium hull and superstructure with a fetching teak deck and cherry word interior, Zwerver elegantly combines style with substance. Her pushbutton hydraulic sail operation, first-rate navigation equipment, considerable seaworthiness and shallow draught make her ideal for cruising coastal waters as well as the high seas. While the previous owner took her on a circumnavigation, Zwerver will primarily be sailing in the Baltic from now on. Look out for her there.
