Broker's comments

Originally launched in 1938, UNITED SPIRIT is a truly distinctive 34.20-metre aluminium motor yacht with an exceptional history. From 1988 to 1995 she underwent a major reconstruction, being stripped to her bare hull and comprehensively rebuilt. The result is a unique yacht combining classic Scandinavian heritage with modern construction, powerful performance and impressive onboard comfort.

  • More info on hull The Fagerdala Hull System consists of a sandwich-composite foam coating applied to metal ship and yacht hulls. The system is designed to provide insulation, reduce noise and vibration, and offer protection against corrosion.
  • Extra info Originally built in 1938 for Swedish industrialist Torsten Krüger, the younger brother of Ivar Krüger of Swedish Match, UNITED SPIRIT was considered a highly innovative yacht at the time of her launch. Constructed in aluminium alloy and originally powered by three petrol engines, she represented an advanced approach to yacht building for her era. After being laid up for a number of years, UNITED SPIRIT was acquired by Alutech, pioneers in advanced composite technology for aluminium hulls. Her distinctive hull design and remarkably well-preserved condition made her an ideal candidate for this innovative construction technique. As part of her transformation, the yacht was treated with the Fagerdala Hull System, consisting of a sandwich-composite foam coating applied to the metal hull. The system was designed to provide effective thermal insulation, significantly reduce noise and vibrations, and offer additional protection against corrosion, further enhancing the qualities of her original aluminium construction. UNITED SPIRIT subsequently underwent an extensive reconstruction by Southampton Yacht Services. The yacht was stripped back to her bare aluminium hull and comprehensively rebuilt, with considerable attention given to quality, engineering and the installation of modern equipment. Following this major transformation, she was relaunched in 1995 and could effectively be regarded as a new yacht built around her exceptional original hull. Following her rebuild, UNITED SPIRIT also became renowned for her performance. In Monaco she became known as the “Fast Swede” and is said to have been one of the fastest, if not the fastest, superyachts of the 1990s. This remarkable combination of performance, innovative construction, engineering and Scandinavian heritage gives UNITED SPIRIT a truly distinctive place in yachting history.
