- Extra info Owner’s Comment: Many smiles and thumbs-up from passers-by — something we had to get used to. Her comfort, safety and surprisingly good boat speed for a yacht of this displacement, however, feel natural from day one. She is remarkably easy to manoeuvre and berth, even single-handed. Her relatively low freeboard, easily reached bollards, spacious cockpit and inside and outside steering make handling straightforward. Sail handling is done from the cockpit, assisted by electric winches. Her variable draft opens up beautiful shallow-water anchorages that many yachts of this size cannot reach. Comfort includes silent central heating, air conditioning in two cabins, excellent mattresses on sprung battens, a surprisingly useful bathtub and a very comfortable motion at sea. The powerful engine provides quiet and effortless cruising, whether motoring or motor-sailing. Safety comes naturally with her strong steel construction, protected rudder, high bulwarks and fixed stainless-steel guardrails. There is rarely any need to go forward while underway. In bad weather, you can simply enjoy a cappuccino in a T-shirt inside, with an excellent all-round view from the deckhouse — a view that surpasses that of many so-called deck-saloon cruisers. The mast, boom, standing and running rigging were all renewed in 2017 as part of a major refit, which also included a complete repaint. The original lowering rig was sold and subsequently fitted to the next Noordkaper 48 built. Sailing performance is comparable to a conventional 50-foot cruising yacht on all points of sail. The powerful genoa and full-batten mainsail provide excellent performance, while the Dutchman flaking system makes the mainsail exceptionally easy to hoist and, importantly, quick and safe to drop. After many hassle-free and enjoyable miles, and many good memories, she is for sale for one simple reason: we are looking for even more “home-like” comfort on the water.
